I don't understand why these idiot fangirls insist on making Mary Sues for Naruto. Or turning Hinata into a goddamn Mary Sue. And thus turning Sakura into this evil untalented mistress of the bog.
WHY?
CAN'T THEY SEE THAT Sasuke is the biggest frickin' Mary Sue of them all. One, he's good-looking. Two, he's talented (supposedly - but if I were asked, I'd bet that Neji or Lee or Kimimaro or even, Sakura is better). Three, he's mysterious. Four, he has a mission. Five, the main character is mysteriously drawn to him.
I just finished reading chapter 309. I know someone who loves Kabuto to bits. Maybe it's me.

I know little about Naruto since I intermittently watch the show (read: whenever I can), but I researched about the anime and read some of its fanfics as well plus went to forums in ff.net about Naruto. Once, I read the online manga but stopped on volume 1, chapter 15 because work took over.
The characters in Naruto like in any other shonen type of anime has their own share of bishouonen ranging from Sasuke to Kakashi-sensei. Like in any other fanfics regarding these people, it would be NOT surprising to find Mary Sue fics.
I haven't read any fics with Hinata as a Mary Sue or Sakura-bashing fics so I can't say anything.
But it wouldn't be fair to bash the pink-haired ninja. Oh sure she's pretty much useless on the first parts of Naruto and always go goo-goo eyes on Sasuke but she grows as a character eventually. There was this one episode where she was being taught by Tsunade about healing and she was given an option to follow after Naruto but she didn't because she would prefer to become the best medical ninja.
Maybe the reason fangirls hate Sakura is because she reminds them of themselves when it comes to their anime crushes. Someone I knew said that if you hate someone, it may be because you unconsciously hate something about yourself and you see it in the person you despise.
At least that's how it looked to me.
As for Sasuke being a Mary Sue...well he is in a way. He's more like the super rookie of the ninja world, just like Rukawa in Slam Dunk. Correct me if I am wrong about this analogy.
Oh good, I thought I was the only one who loves Kabuto. Who knew that someone so twisted could look ordinary? I like Neji too as well since he really kicks butt.

Well, I'm not going to deny I don't like Sakura's character. But one crux which contributes to me not liking her is she announced rivalry against Ino who was very nice to her when they were little. I mean they were once best friends. But Sakura ditches a best friend for Sasuke which is utter aggravating, at least to me. Heh. Even so, I didn't bash her in my fictions.
But yes, writers tend to make Hinata a Mary Sue (a bunch of people who feel protective over her when they shouldn't). I hope I haven't made her a Mary Sue too, because it is her weaknesses that make her such a unique character.
About Sasuke, my feelings toward him is neutral. I don't worship him, nor do I hate him. But he is sort of like Mary Sue (yeah, like Rukawa ^^). I mean I like Naruto lots better, and I find NaruSasu quite amusing.
About Kabuto, I love him. Period. But I'm a Team 8 lover...so...

I can't blame you if you don't like Sakura and I agree that ditching your best friend for a guy is aggravating, not to mention low. After what Ino did to her this is what she repays her friend. What an ingrate.
But when it comes to Sakura, I couldn't care less about her. I can't say which female character I like in Naruto although Tenten seems to be appealing to me but I haven't seen her in action and there's Ino whose technique is cool (it's not everyday you get to possess other people).
As for Hinata, her shyness makes her unique and she eventually grew stronger thanks to her teammates. Why would she need protection anyway? She's capable enough even if she faints when she sees Naruto.
But isn't it tough to make a Naruto fic since extensive research needs to be made especially with combat, ninja techniques, bloodline limits and chakra usage?
How'd these authors pull it out then?

Other than the best-friend ditching thing, I would have liked her. She's not so bad after all, I think. ^__^
But I like Ino and TenTen. But I probably would never write about them.
About Hinata, I actually made Shino and Kiba protective over her in a fiction, but that was a form of protestation to all the fictions that featured Hinata being raped. I mean I've read about 20 fictions in which Hinata got raped and I was like...What the dickens? I'd like to think that there is no way Hinata is going to get raped so easily, because first, the rapists have to deal with Shino and Kiba. It is very often that both of the latter being sidelined in a SasuHina or NaruHina or Anyone/Hina fictions, that it seems likie they have no significant part in protecting her. So in one of my fictions, I featured Shino and Kiba 'terminating' a man who was spying on Hinata. I was just trying to imply that there is no way they're going to let her get raped that easily, so that later some bishie would just step up to avenge for it and get all the credits. Eat that, you Hinata rapists! ^__^ And Hinata should be strong enough to defend herself should both her teammates fail to do so.
It is tough to make Naruto fictions, especially if you are going to write something involving battles--you have to be true to the history. About Chakra, Kekkei Genkai, Jutsus and everything, I'm not really well-versed in them yet, that's why I'm on a hiatus. But most writers in Naruto abandon their research and write about, you know, things they claim as 'random' or 'crack' in which the storyline is mere comical and everyone's skewed out-of-character. I'm guilty about it too since I've written two fluffs BTW. But I'm trying to write something relating to Ninjahood for my latest fiction and I'm still trying to figure out some things relating to the Uchiha. Urgh. I'm boring you off your pants, am I not?
But I am certain of one thing. There are much trash in Naruto category, especially with the MS (girls get transported to Naruto world crap)OC and MS in disguise (as in caffeine-freak's term) and I'd like to think I'm trying to abolish them. Thanks to BYLT for that. :)

Sakura is not that bad, but the rest of the female characters in Naruto is even better. Hell, most of the characters in Naruto are way better than Naruto and Sasuke. Like Rock Lee who kicks ass (especially when drunk), then there's Gaara, there's Neji and there's Kiba.
And Hinata being raped? C'mon, that's stupid. She has two strong teammates, one that controls bugs (Shino) and the other has a dog for a weapon (Kiba). And believe me, those morons don't stand a chance. Just because Hinata is quiet and shy doesn't mean she's an easy target. She can fight on her own just as well as the two guys with her.
Since we're in the subject of Hinata being paired with every guy in Naruto, I noticed that she's also being paired with Neji. Call me a prude but they're 1st cousins right? And even if they do have feelings for each other (yeah Neji hates her guts because she's from the main branch of the family and he's not) in some cultures, cousins are forbidden to marry each other unless you want to keep the bloodline pure (and insane).
Plus I'm a Neji-Ten Ten fan. I only read one fic involving these two, but I like this pairing.
I do see fics that seem to specialize with OC's being sucked in the Naruto universe (but never bother to read them). When I see the summary I go like: What is this Fushigi Yugi?!
You're not boring me with the details of your fic. In fact you got me interested especially since you're going to write about a clan that has been massacred by one of their own.
If I plan to write a fic in Naruto I may have to research for a week or maybe a month. There are so much information you need to get in Naruto and then there's also staying true not only to the history but also in the anime/manga and its characters. OOC's is a big no-no to me. And no OC's, Naruto has enough people for me to use, just like...let's say the guys and gals in Yu Yu Hakusho.
But for now, I would just finish some of my Slam Dunk fics before I proceed to even write another anime fanfic. I am trying my hand at a Yu-Gi-Oh! fic but not sure if I should move on because:
1) I'm not into duel card games. Hell, I get blank when my officemate talks about Magic the Gathering to me. How much more Yu-gi-Oh?
2) I'm not much of a fan for guys with tri-colored hair whose eyes seem to be perpetually rolled up.
3) Researching for information in this anime would require a degree in Archaelogy and Egyptology.
4) They're not that interesting. There sure is life beyond duel monters right? Or I'm just being a woman.
Besides, the only character I like there is Seto Kaiba and I already made a draft fic about him but that has yet to be completed or even published. I wanted to make a Seto-OC fic without:
1) turing the OC to a Mary Sue
2) romance (since the guy is probably married to his Blue Eyes White Dragon anyway)
3) making Seto OOC. Of all the guys in Yu-Gi-Oh, he's the most complex.
And now I'm going to shut up because I'm babbling too much already.
Patring shot: fanfiction is a fiction to keep a certain series/anime alive, not twist it into something unrecognizable to fit our twisted fantasies...meaning OC fics that have Mary Sues or self-inserts in disguise!

Hey-o CM...I hate Kakashi too. They're the Rukawa types. The saddest thing about Sakura is that after evolving into a decent person in the second part of the series, she turns back into a whatever type when they confronted Sasuke. Oops, spoiler! Anyway, Kabuto is so twisted just like Ichimaru Gin from Bleach. And they're both in a prime position to betray the evil villain. Everybody likes Neji. That includes me.
DBM: I neither like nor dislike Sakura but I think she's being unfairly attacked. Doesn't she get points for being a dynamic character? I like Ino better than her for no better reason than Ino's good looks. Is that bad? Haha!
Anyway, I neither like nor dislike Hinata either but her character is being mangled in fanfiction. Notwithstanding Kiba and Shino's protection, I would assume that after the death of Neji's father, the Hyuuga clan would be more cautious about the well-being of their supposed heir. *sarcastic* Oh, yeah it would be so easy to rape her.
And no offense to Hinata fans out there, if I were the perv, I'd go through her sensei first, Anko, Ino and hmmm...Sasuke, just for the heck of it.
For female characters, I would honestly just go for Temari. She's not very pretty but she's the best fighter among the young females. And she's sister to Gaara who's super!
Gosh, there's a chapter in Part 2 where you would just love to eat him :D

Shucks. The reason why I'm not interested in the latest manga releases is because I HATE HATE HATE seeing Sasuke there. I can't stand it that he's being a bitch to Naruto who obviously worships him despite the former's ego. I hate it.
I've kinda begun liking Sakura in the later parts. I don't hate her or something but yeah, she's a bitch to Ino (who's easily my most favorite female character in Naruto together with Temari--although I kinda envy Temari because she and Shikamaru are surely going to be together in the end:( ). I also hate it when people make Sakura an effing Mary Sue. Come on. Sasuke DOESN'T see her. I think I would like her a hundred times more if she says 'yes' to Lee. I like that pairing.
Mary Sues abound the fandom. Mary Sues over whom Kakashi, Itachi and Sasuke go crazy. I hate it. Why can't they pair up these people with each other??? Just kidding.
About Hinata...She's good. She really is. Compared to the genin girls in Naruto, she's probabaly the best (alhtough Asuma said Ino is the best among the girls but I'm not going to quote him on that). I mean, duh, she has that Byakugan. Hyuuga is like the strongest clan in Konoha and just because her stupid dad thinks she's weak doesn't mean she is. Maybe she's weak compared to her clan members but otherwise, she can do great in missions.
I adore Hyuuga-cest. But I adore Kiba/Hinata or Shino/Hinata and even a yaoi Shino/Kiba. Hahaha. And their sensei is, like, so HOT.
I'm not really sure if I like non-yaoi better than yaoi where Naruto is concerned. Celestial Maiden is right; Tenten/Neji is irresistibly cute and so is...Shika/Neji or Lee/Neji or something...God, I'm confused.
Pao, Orochimaru??? He's the one who ditched Jiraiya right? I HATE him.
